Silver Apples + Gap Dream and DJ Jordan Blackmon (of Toro Y Moi) @ Troubadour, LA, 6/14 Tuesday

Recently while in San Francisco, we had a chance to attend the Silver Apples (http://silverapples.com/) show at the Chapel. The legendary, forward thinking sounds that characterize the band date back to the late 1960s New York underground. That night, we had drifted to another time period, somewhere uncertain, exciting, and mysterious. But there was a lifeline that grounded us in the hypnotic grooves. The elements of his music gave a sense of the unknown and avant-garde but that lifeline, in the middle of oscillating outer space, was simplicity. An aura of catchy groove affected the whole room. The beats are timeless. One minute you are displaced to 1970s German electronica, the next you're in the present vibing to what sounds like proto-noise rock reminiscent of Animal Collective, Blonde Redhead, Primus, Massive Attack, etc. We are performing with Silver Apples June 14 at The Troubadour in LA along with Burger records extraordinary Gap Dream and, in between bands, DJ Jordan Blackmon (guitarist of Toro Y Moi) will spin some exquisite vinyl. We hope you all can make this show and understand the historic value of this Silver Apples & Troubadour performance. Buy Tickets at Folkyeah.com
